I’ve been to Abrolhos in the Reveillon of 2005, and I confess, I didn’t imagine that would be so wonderful.
The sensation was like I was inside a giant fish tank, making part of that enchanted world. The color of the waters, the fish are indescribable.
We were lodged in Alcobaça, Bahia and always thought about visiting Abrolhos. We had this great opportunity in 1998. It was an amazing trip.
We’ve waited for the Marine release due to the weather conditions and finally we went to Caravelas and from there, we used a motorboat to know this wonderful place.
We had emotions never seen. It was October, beautiful sky and, the whales were still there with their great performance. I simply couldn’t believe I was looking at WHALES, my heart was almost jumping out of my mouth. The guide told us it was not time to see them anymore.
We were received by the biologists in the arrival. They explain to us how to behave not to harm the nature.
It’s difficult to describe with my own words the beauty of the atobahs and their babies, the fish around our diving, etc…
The island is a meeting with patience and God. It’s simply unforgettable. We thank God for this opportunity again to get along with the nature.

I was delighted with that place. I’ve never seen such place. I don’t have words to explain to people who don’t imagine how beautiful it is.
I went to Abrolhos in December 2004…
I wanna come back there at the time of whales. I’ve also had the opportunity to do my diving check out…
Kisses to all
We have been to Abrolhos in December 2004 when we were going to our beach house in Guarapari.
We arrived in Caravelas and went to the boat to get further information on the tours. We aren’t divers and positively lovers of nature…
We got to know about two kinds of tours. One would be on a motorboat with little people and would leave at 7 a.m. returning at the end of the day and the other option would be a boat with more people and the tour would last more 3 days sleeping on it. We chose the fast boat. The depart would be from Iate Club next day. Well, that night, I couldn’t sleep because I was so excited about it. I only knew Abrolhos in photos and I was already in love!!!
Next day we woke up early, went to Iate Club and we found a diving store with diving equipment, T-shirts and so on … We rented all equipment we need, we bought a T-shirt with Abrolhos silk and went to the boat which was waiting for us along with the other 10 passengers.
We came into the boat and our great trip got started ! ! !
The people were naturally introducing themselves, and so were we, then we realized we were the only people seeking for a new discovery: Abrolhos.
The very comfortable boat started sailing. What a view! What a nice sightseeing, wow!
We traveled for 3 hours and got to the 5 Islands of the Isle. The color of the water was something remarkable. The boat stopped in a strategic and allowed place, so the fish came closer. Each one more beautiful than the other, colorful with different sizes. We decided to go down to enjoy … Before that, we decided to offer a piece of bread to some fish that stood on the surface of the sea. Suddenly a shoal came closer and that was a big party. The fish jumped to catch the bread. What a wonderful thing ! ! ! We wore our fins and masks and jumped into the sea. We noticed we were diving around fish, reefs, turtles, rays, sea-horses, thus, a diversity of fish passing around us, calmly, no panic. A movie scenery, we took some photos … Suddenly we were next to the whales. Wow ! Imagine, I’ve never dived before, and I was under the sea facing that…
What an unforgettable experience ! ! !
After diving we went to the land, in Santa Bárbara Island to meet a other wonders, such as, the Atobahs. They’re beautiful and plenty of them.
They leeave their feathers in strategic places in order to make a nest, and that’s so cute. The guide told us not to touch anything, even the feathers the Atobahs loose on the ground.
At the end of the day, we watched an amazing sunset in the island, a true SHOW.
Time to return, the boat was ready and waiting for us…
We left toward Caravelas, that paradise was left behind. It needs to be preserved, more than ever.
Who don’t know it yet, I recommend. You’ll love Abrolhos for sure
It’s worth it!
We arrived in Caravelas at 7.00 in a morning of August 2004. The weather as quite cold, but it was sunny. 3 days later, we were waiting for a nice weather, but the boat could leave. We took a huge two-story boat, I don’t remember the name of the company …
I was sea sick during all trip because it lasted around 2 hours, and we stopped all the time to watch the whales…
Arriving in the Isle, we stepped on Siriba Island, but we couldn’t walk around the whole island because the tide was high.
Later we dived in front of Santa Bárbara island … I didn’t have courage to do the check out, because I don’t have experience in diving. Actually, Gui thought strange the fact of being there without being divers, but that tour was amazing. I wanted to do something different in the South of Bahia and it worth it … We did a snorkeling diving, just on the surface and saw a great variety of fish, reefs, turtles, rays, and se-horses
That’s a pity, it’s a one day tour. It’s a short time for diving, but I don’t take the risk to sleep on a boat next trip. I believe it’s not comfortable for women, and besides, it’s necessary to take a diving course in order to dive using cylinders. In addition to that, the trip is wonderful, even for a one-day tour…
I suggest it to everyone who wish to see crystal waters, beautiful sightseeing, exotic birds, and Jubarte whales…

I was in Abrolhos in October 1998. What a wonderful trip ! ! !
I was on a friend’s boat. My friend’s name was The Carioca master. There, we dived all day long. It was the first time I dived with all equipment, cylinder, and so on.
I didn’t believe what I saw: several colorful fish, reefs, which we used to come inside when a wave went up. There were many fish. They used to swim next to us and there were many shoals, red, yellow, blue, a dream!
One day we saw a little shark and the adrenaline was high. The atobahs are beautiful and plenty of them ! ! ! Crystal waters … In the evening we watched the sunset, in the morning we woke up very early to watch the sunrise. I took many photos and even painted a picture of the sunrise next to the lighthouse. It was perfect!
A nice crew, a close girlfriend at the return. Because of 40 knots of wind the boat broke and Carioca master got panic. The waves were breaking above the boat breeching, but my girlfriend and I were in a good mood, mainly when the most expected Jubarte whales came up! It was their procreation time, in October, then the mother whale jumped and the baby whale imitated her, jumping beside her.
The returning trip to Caravelas lasted 12 hours, but it was wonderful! I dream about coming back there, to see those reefs and fish again. Who knows the parcels, dropping by is fantastic. They say they’re amazing!!!

I went to Abrolhos a long time ago, when I was a little child, but I can tell what I saw and felt. Going to that paradise was remarkable in my life on an excited way.
I was delighted with the nature and with the sea full of beautiful fish. My great passion was the Jubarte whales that make me feel very emotional and I almost cry when I watch documentaries at animal channels. Mainly when I listen to them singing and jumping.
It’s a unique, and fantastic place and I’ve never seen such wonderful place. I dream about returning to that paradise.

I’m an autonomous diver and I’ve visited Abrolhos for 5 times and I never get tired of it. Each trip is unforgettable!
The first time, of course, it was the best because everything was new for me. It was in September 1997 and after that I was in love. I went there 3 time in Jubarte time and I was very happy all the time, because the whales came up both sides, it’s amazing!
I like taking photos and I published two underwater photos for MERGULHO Magazine.
